VENICE CARNIVAL

carnival-in-venice

The Venice Carnival was always one of the most popular feasts in the city, and records documenting this event go back as far as the eleventh century and by the eighteenth century it was known all over Europe.
However, in 1769 when the Republic fell the vitality of Venice was temporarily lost, and the tradition of Carnival abandoned. In 1980 the Venice Carnival was revived as a community and tourist festival.
Nowadays it is characterized by its magnificent masquerades, masked balls and feasts. The whole town is transformed into a vast theatre, full of music, dance and festivities. The city explodes with fun and laughter and huge festive crowds fill the salon of Piazza San Marco and hundreds of other squares in the city.
This is Carnival:  A stimulating experience to suit everyone’s taste.
